Public art projects - Jay Roche
Although a dedicated member of the Triskill Team Jay Roche has also worked on many Public Commissions as an independent Mosaic artist. This has worked well as the Triskill team provides great practical and physical back up for some quite complex projects. So far Jay Roche has worked on up to ten Percent for Art and Public Art commisions all brought to completion on time and on budget. His considerable experience in project management has also helped to create a thorough and well planned trajectory for each project. The following outlines some of the Public Art Commisions completed since 2007.
Deele College Raphoe
This project was completed in 2019 and was the culmination of a interactive project based around the history of Raphoe and the centrality of the college to the life of the town.
Working closely with the students and staff he collaborated with staff and students on a location for the artwork and the contents of the imagery pf the mosaic. A location was found in a location where students and staff congregated at the begginning and end of classes providing an ideal and colourful meeting point.
The brief was to bring as much colour into the courtyard and to provide talking points from local history for those congregating there.
artwork took it's final form as an outdoor seating area with all surfaces covered in porcelain tile mosaic depicting local historical and environmentl points of interest.
